Project Objectives

  • Create a 3d Prosthetic which expands human capabilities by modeling in Maya

  • Use 3d scanning software to take a scan of your body

  • Integrate the prosthetic and body scan and create a compelling scene

Artist Statement

This project is an exploration into expanding two essential parts of the human experience. The first, perhaps the most blunt, is that it increases our reach, allowing us to maneuver more dexterously with its prehensile arm extensions. Each arm also has the addition of a camera centered within its retractable claws, which feeds back into the users visor. This second part necessitates the sacrifice of one eye, in exchange for the addition of 2 new perspectives (one from each arm). While our evolutionary path has moved us into a bipedal upright position, this prosthetic allows us to shift our perspective into one more similar to an animal which has sensory organs on its appendages.
